Night Safari

Night Safari is the world's first wildlife park built specifically for nocturnal viewing, opening at 7.30pm and running to midnight (last ticket 11.15pm), with food and retail outlets opening earlier at 5.30pm for dinner before the park proper starts.

⚠ HEADS UP

The peak calendar here is not the same as the other Mandai parks. Friday counts as peak at Night Safari, and so does the eve of a public holiday. Everywhere else peak means only weekends and public holidays.

NOTE

Do not arrive at 6pm expecting the park to be running. The tram and all four trails open at 7pm.

Animals are kept in naturalistic enclosures lit only with dim, low-level lighting designed not to disturb their night cycles, and the tram ride covering most of the park is included in general admission. It sits inside the wider Mandai Wildlife Reserve alongside Singapore Zoo and River Wonders, so a combined ticket across two or more parks is usually cheaper than buying separately if visiting more than one on the same trip.

Because it's genuinely dark inside, flash photography isn't allowed, and mobility for young children or anyone unsteady on their feet needs a bit more care than a daytime park.

★ WORTH KNOWING

The tram queue builds fast after opening — heading straight for the tram at 7.30pm and walking the trails afterwards beats arriving later and facing a 45-minute-plus wait.

    Rain drier than average

Short, sharp early-morning showers and occasional squall lines. Drier overall than the northeast wet phase.

The other good window. Rain tends to arrive early and clear, leaving usable afternoons. This is also when haze can occur, which is worth checking rather than assuming.
