Who loves Night Safari, and who does not
The split is predictable. Work out which side you are on before you pay.
Night Safari is the most divisive ticket in Singapore, and the split is predictable enough that you can work out in advance which group you are in.
It is not about how much you like animals. It is about what you expect a wildlife park to deliver.
You will love it
If you accept that the animals are the reward for patience
- The park is lit at a level closer to strong moonlight than to daylight, because that is the light level nocturnal animals will move in.
- A sloth bear working along a log twenty metres away in near-dark is a genuinely different experience from the same animal in a daytime zoo.
- Add the four walking trails, where you are alone in a warm forest listening to something move, and it becomes the most atmospheric thing in the country.
You will not love it
If you were expecting a safari
- The tram is a slow open-sided vehicle on a fixed loop with audio commentary. It does not stop for you.
- Some enclosures will show you nothing at all on the night you go.
- If your instinct at an attraction is to photograph what you see, you will come away with an hour of black frames and a sense of having been sold something.
- Families with young children who are already tired by 8pm have a poor time; a five-year-old at 9:30pm in the dark is not enjoying conservation.
At $58 for an adult it is the most expensive single park in the reserve, and it is more expensive than Singapore Zoo. It is also the only one of the five that you cannot do anywhere else in the world, which is exactly why people pay.

Every guest visiting Night Safari must select an admission time slot, members included. Turning up with an open-dated ticket is how people end up standing outside.
Pick your slot with the show timetable in mind rather than with dinner in mind. A 6:00pm slot buys you an hour of walking trails and the entrance area before there is any tram to board, which is either a head start or a wasted hour depending on how you use it.

Tram service is included in the ticket, which is the important part: the tram is not an add-on and you should not buy one.
Night Safari against the alternatives, standard non-resident rates
Night Safari plus any one day park costs $103 to $113 as two singles, so the 2 Attractions pass saves $15 to $25 per adult.
If you are also doing Singapore Zoo, Bird Paradise, River Wonders or Rainforest Wild Adventure, the 2 Attractions Destination Pass at $88 for an adult and $60 for a child is the obvious move. Because Night Safari runs in the evening and every other park closes at 6:00pm, pairing it is the one Mandai two-park day that genuinely is not rushed.
For longer trips, the 6 Attractions Destination Pass with 5-day validity is $158 adult and $110 child and covers Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, Bird Paradise, Night Safari, Rainforest Wild Adventure and Exploria. Five wildlife parks bought singly come to $256 for an adult, so the pass saves about $98 and lets you spread the reserve over separate days instead of forcing a death march. The 1-day version of the same pass is $118, and buying it to do six attractions between 9am and midnight is a mistake dressed as a bargain.
The tram: still the centrepiece, but it has a new name
Safari Adventure Tram, from 7:00pm, included in the ticket.
Safari Adventure Tram
The narrated tram loop is intact and still the thing most people come for. It takes you through the larger open habitats that the walking trails do not reach, so it is not optional if you want to see rhinos, elephants and the hoofed animals.

The catchSit on the outside of a row if you can. The tram does not rotate, so one side of the vehicle gets the better half of several enclosures, and the commentary will tell you what you are meant to be looking at seconds after the moment has passed.
Between about 8:00pm and 9:30pm the queue is at its worst because that is when everybody who booked a 7:00pm slot has finished eating.
The four walking trails, and the names they go by now
Tiger, Pangolin, Leopard and Tasmanian Devil. Walk the Pangolin Trail slowly.
The trails are where Night Safari earns its reputation, and they are the part most often described wrongly elsewhere. The current trails are the Tiger Trail, the Pangolin Trail, the Leopard Trail and the Tasmanian Devil Trail. The Fishing Cat Trail, the East Lodge Trail and the Wallaby Trail as separate named routes are gone.
Pangolin Trail
Southeast Asia's own nocturnal animals, including the Sunda pangolin, Asian small-clawed otter, common palm civet, leopard cat and Sunda slow loris. These are the animals that actually live in this region, several of them are in serious trouble in the wild, and this is a realistic chance of seeing a pangolin at all.
Leopard Trail
Puts you close to Asian wildlife behind mesh at eye level rather than across a moat.
Tiger Trail
Sits at the meeting point of African savannah and tropical Asian species.
Tasmanian Devil Trail
The marsupial route, holding Tasmanian devils and wallabies, and it absorbs what the old Wallaby Trail used to cover.

Still the headline presentation and still at the Night Safari Amphitheatre. The current line-up features the binturong and fennec fox alongside newer additions including the spotted hyaena and bearded pigs.

Embers of Night
A fire performance in the Entrance Courtyard, and the least advertised thing in the park. It is a good reason not to leave at nine, which is when a lot of visitors drift out.

Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant
Still open and still the main sit-down option inside the park, with a satay grill and a dessert and drinks counter. Eat before you come or eat there; there is nothing else within walking distance of Mandai at night.
Getting there and, more importantly, getting back
No MRT at Mandai. Every route ends with a bus, and the last one leaves at midnight.

Ride the M2 Khatib Bus in
The reserve's own service from Khatib MRT (NS14) is the reliable option after dark. About 20 minutes, $2.50 adult, daily from 8:30am to midnight, every 15 minutes and every 20 minutes between 11:00pm and midnight.
Reserve a show seat from the bus
The Creatures of the Night window opens two hours before each performance, so the 7:30pm show opens at 5:30pm — before the park itself opens.
Walk a trail before the tram exists
There is no tram until 7:00pm, so a 6:00pm slot is trail time while the trails are empty.
Board the tram early or late
The first thirty minutes of service, or after 10pm.
Check the time before a second loop
That last-bus timing is the reason to check the time before you settle in for a second tram ride.

On the way in, the public bus is cheaper than the shuttle, because Singapore charges one distance-based fare across a whole journey and a bus tapped within 45 minutes of the MRT continues that fare rather than starting a new one. An adult card fare on basic bus and train services starts at $1.28 and caps at $2.57 however far you go. The M2, being a private shuttle, is excluded from those transfer rules: you pay its $2.50 on top and it ends your fare journey.

No flash photography
It is prohibited anywhere in the park, and it is also the reason the animal you wanted to see has just left. Leave the camera in the bag on the trails and use your eyes, which adapt to the dark in about ten minutes if you stop looking at your phone.
What a local knows
The Creatures of the Night booking window is the thing that separates people who see the show from people who queue for it. Seats are free, but they cannot be reserved until two hours before the performance, and the amphitheatre gates close ten minutes before the start. So if you want the 7:30pm show, the reservation opens at 5:30pm, which is before the park itself opens at 6:00pm. Book it from the bus. Almost every visitor discovers this while standing inside the park at 7:20pm, by which point the 7:30pm show is gone and they are waiting an hour for the 8:30pm.
Questions people actually ask
How much is Night Safari in 2026?
Standard admission is $58 for an adult and $41 for a child aged 3 to 12. Singapore residents aged 60 and above pay $25. Children under 3 enter free with a ticket-holding adult. The tram is included in the price.
Do I need to book a time slot for Night Safari?
Yes. Every guest must select an admission time slot, members included. It is not the same as booking a Creatures of the Night seat, which is a separate free reservation that only opens two hours before each show.
What time does the Night Safari tram start?
7:00pm, an hour after the park opens at 6:00pm. If you have a 6:00pm slot, spend that hour on the walking trails while they are empty rather than waiting at the tram station.
Is Night Safari worth it, or is it just a tram ride in the dark?
Both descriptions are accurate for different people. If you can accept low light, no guarantees and a fixed loop, it is the most atmospheric wildlife experience in Singapore and you cannot get it elsewhere. If you want reliable sightings and photographs, or you are travelling with children who fade before 9pm, spend the money on Singapore Zoo or Bird Paradise instead.
What are the Night Safari walking trails called now?
Tiger Trail, Pangolin Trail, Leopard Trail and Tasmanian Devil Trail. Older guides list a Fishing Cat Trail, East Lodge Trail and Wallaby Trail; those names are no longer used. The Pangolin Trail is the best of the four.
How do I get back to the city after Night Safari?
The M2 Khatib Bus runs to Khatib MRT (NS14) until midnight, every 15 minutes and every 20 minutes after 11:00pm, at $2.50. Check the time before committing to a second tram loop, because the park is open until midnight and the shuttle is not running any later than that.
Can I use flash photography at Night Safari?
No. Flash is prohibited throughout the park. It is also self-defeating: it disturbs the animals you are trying to see. Give your eyes ten minutes to adapt and stop checking your phone screen, which resets them.
