HortPark sits on Hyderabad Road at the western end of the Southern Ridges, and NParks runs it as a gardening hub rather than a conventional park — the draw is more than ten themed gardens, among them a Butterfly Garden, an Orchid Garden, a Silver Garden and a Bee Trail, laid out as a working showcase of what actually grows in Singapore's climate.
One thing to know first
The visitor centre closes at 12.30pm at weekends and public holidays, and for an hour at lunch on weekdays.
It is open daily from 6am to 11pm and there is no admission charge; you pay only if you drive in and use the car park. Most visitors come to wander the plots, but it also works as the flat, shaded starting point for the wider Southern Ridges walk. From here the Alexandra Arch and Floral Walk lead east towards Telok Blangah Hill Park and the Henderson Waves bridge, roughly a 30-minute stroll away.
No MRT station sits at the gate — Labrador Park on the Circle Line is the nearest but still a walk away, so unless you are arriving on foot along the Southern Ridges, most visitors drive to the 149-lot car park off Hyderabad Road, where parking fees apply.
If you plan to link HortPark into the full Southern Ridges walk, start here rather than at HarbourFront: this end is flat and shaded, and heading east towards Henderson Waves and Mount Faber leaves the one real climb near the finish, where you can drop out to a taxi if you have had enough. Note too that the Forest Walk sections stay unlit between 7pm and 7am until the end of September 2026 for maintenance, so keep any after-dark walking to the Alexandra Arch end.
