市政區（Civic District）

市政區（Civic District）指的是環繞在Padang大草場四周那一片殖民時期建築——政府大廈（City Hall）、舊國會大廈（今The Arts House）、維多利亞劇院、善牧主教座堂，彼此都在幾分鐘步行範圍之內。

這裡曾是新加坡英國殖民政府的所在地，後來又在1965年宣告獨立，所以直到今天,國家慶典和閱兵仍以Padang為背景。這些建築如今多半是博物館、演出場地或政府辦公處，而非可以隨意進出的地方，所以這片區域更適合邊走邊看,而不是奔著某一張門票去。新加坡國家美術館、新加坡國家博物館和亞洲文明博物館，都坐落在它的範圍之內或緊挨著它的邊緣。

把市政區當成一條步行環線來逛，而不是某一個目的地——從新加坡國家美術館出發，穿過去到Padang，再一路走到河邊的加文納橋（Cavenagh Bridge）。整條環線不到2公里,卻覆蓋了這裡大部分值得看的東西。
