市政区（Civic District）

市政区（Civic District）指的是环绕在Padang大草场四周那一片殖民时期建筑——政府大厦（City Hall）、旧国会大厦（今The Arts House）、维多利亚剧院、善牧主教座堂，彼此都在几分钟步行范围之内。

这里曾是新加坡英国殖民政府的所在地，后来又在1965年宣告独立，所以直到今天,国家庆典和阅兵仍以Padang为背景。这些建筑如今多半是博物馆、演出场地或政府办公处，而非可以随意进出的地方，所以这片区域更适合边走边看,而不是奔着某一张门票去。新加坡国家美术馆、新加坡国家博物馆和亚洲文明博物馆，都坐落在它的范围之内或紧挨着它的边缘。

把市政区当成一条步行环线来逛，而不是某一个目的地——从新加坡国家美术馆出发，穿过去到Padang，再一路走到河边的加文纳桥（Cavenagh Bridge）。整条环线不到2公里,却覆盖了这里大部分值得看的东西。
