This is authentic Ningbo cuisine from eastern Zhejiang: saline, direct flavours built on cold-water seafood flown in from the region, with the philosophy of amplifying an ingredient rather than transforming it. It is distinct from sweet Shanghainese and subtle Cantonese cooking, though it borrows refined Shanghai technique and a few Chaoshan and Hunan touches for the local palate.
The brand was founded in Shanghai by Weng Yongjun, who scouted overseas from 2023 and chose Singapore first. The kitchen is guided by chef-consultant Huang Jing Hui, whose Michelin-starred experience includes Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou; the day-to-day Singapore head chef is not named publicly.

Yong Fu began in Shanghai as a high-end brand, earned a MICHELIN star and a Black Pearl rating there, and expanded to Hong Kong in 2019. The Singapore restaurant, its first overseas, opened at Suntec City in November 2024, made the MICHELIN Selected list in 2025, and was promoted to one star on 4 August 2026 — one of six new one-stars that edition.
For diners after authentic regional Chinese cooking beyond the usual Cantonese and Sichuan, for special occasions, business dinners or date nights. It fills a Ningbo gap in Singapore's premium Chinese scene, and the "Ningbo 18 Cuts" is a rare thing to try.
