⚠ HEADS UP

If you are a Singapore citizen, this is pay-as-you-wish — the museum invites you to name your own price rather than pay the S$12. We have found no other Singapore museum doing that.

NOTE — TO 31 AUG 2026

Both ticket products are stamped valid until 31 Aug 2026, so the current pricing and voucher arrangement has a hard expiry and will need re-checking.

It is the Singapore arm of the Red Dot design awards, and the two galleries inside hold several hundred award-winning product and concept designs — furniture, electronics, packaging and everyday objects rethought. Unlike the free lobby at the ArtScience Museum across the water, entry here is ticketed: $12 for an adult, which includes a $5 voucher for the shop. It opens Monday to Friday from 11am to 7pm and both weekend days from 10am to 7pm, and it moved to this site in 2017 from its previous home on Maxwell Road.

It sits a short walk round the bay from the Merlion, so it slots easily into a wider Marina Bay waterfront day. The nearest MRT is Downtown station Exit B, roughly five minutes along the waterfront, though Bayfront and Marina Bay stations sit the same distance away — take whichever line you are already on, and head for the free-standing glass box on the promenade rather than into the MBFC office towers.

★ WORTH KNOWING

The $12 admission includes a $5 shop voucher with no minimum spend, so if you intended to buy one of the design objects anyway the real cost of entry drops to about $7 — and the museum shop and café can both be visited for free, without buying a ticket at all.

    Rain drier than average

Short, sharp early-morning showers and occasional squall lines. Drier overall than the northeast wet phase.

The other good window. Rain tends to arrive early and clear, leaving usable afternoons. This is also when haze can occur, which is worth checking rather than assuming.
