The menu is seasonal and changes, so treat these as examples of the style rather than a fixed list.
This is contemporary Indian fine dining, not a curry house. The kitchen takes the spices and memories of South Indian and Malaysian-Indian home cooking and reworks them through European technique, in a fixed tasting sequence that runs seafood through vegetables and meat to dessert. Expect familiar flavours arriving in unfamiliar, polished forms.
Mano Thevar was born in Penang, of Indian heritage, and cooks from his grandmother's kitchen as much as from any culinary school. His training is European — stints at Guy Savoy in Singapore, Pure C in the Netherlands, and Waku Ghin — before he opened his own room, and that mix of home cooking and fine-dining discipline is the whole point of the food.

An intimate restored shophouse with warm tones, soft lighting and Chettinad motifs — refined but not stiff. Dress is smart casual: collared shirts, tailored trousers or dark denim and closed-toe shoes, no sportswear or flip-flops.
Thevar opened in Keong Saik in 2018, won its first star in 2021 and a second in 2022, then reopened in mid-2025 on Mohamed Sultan Road in more than double the space. It retained both stars in the 2026 Guide.
For visitors who want a destination modern-Indian tasting menu — South Asian heritage and Malaysian memory delivered with European technique and the chef's own storytelling. Note the kitchen cannot do vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free or allium-free menus.
