Entry is free, and it opens Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm, closed on Sundays and public holidays. The centrepiece is a large architectural scale model of the central city, ringed by displays that explain how Singapore plans and keeps rebuilding on very little land; a three-minute projection show runs on the model roughly every 20 minutes through the day. It is a compact, air-conditioned stop rather than a half-day outing, and most people are done inside an hour.

It sits almost directly across the road from Maxwell Food Centre, so it pairs neatly with a hawker lunch before you walk on into Chinatown proper. Take the Thomson-East Coast Line to Maxwell station and leave by the Maxwell Food Centre exit — you surface roughly two minutes from the URA Centre door, whereas older guides still send you to Tanjong Pagar on the East-West Line, a noticeably longer walk.

The catch most visitors miss is that this is one of the few free attractions in the area that shuts on Sundays and public holidays, so a weekend plan built around it can fall flat — come on a weekday or a Saturday. If the model's projection-mapping show is the reason you're going, note it only plays about every 20 minutes, so glance at the clock rather than arriving mid-gap.
