It holds a private collection of roughly 50,000 vintage toys and collectables made between the 1840s and the 1980s and gathered from more than 40 countries, with the displays split across four themed floors — Outerspace, Characters, Childhood Favourites and Collectables — plus a rooftop of old enamel advertising signs and a bar in the basement. Entry is ticketed, and tickets are cheaper booked online than paid at the door. The museum opens Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30am to 6:30pm, with last admission at 5:30pm, and closes on Mondays.

It is a compact indoor visit of an hour or two rather than a half-day, which makes it easy to fold into a walk around Raffles Hotel and the Bras Basah–Bugis area. Use Bugis MRT Exit A or Esplanade MRT Exit F — both about a five-minute walk — and look for Seah Street running off Beach Road immediately behind Raffles Hotel.

★ WORTH KNOWING

Listings elsewhere often say the museum is open daily, but it is closed on Mondays and stops admitting visitors at 5:30pm — an hour before it shuts — so a late-afternoon Monday arrival is the classic wasted trip. Singapore residents can also put their SG Culture Pass credits towards MINT's heritage tours and workshops rather than paying for them separately.

Rain, heat, and what to do about it

Live readings and forecasts from NEA. Four days is the limit — past that, nobody is forecasting, they are showing you an average.

    Rain drier than average

Short, sharp early-morning showers and occasional squall lines. Drier overall than the northeast wet phase.

The other good window. Rain tends to arrive early and clear, leaving usable afternoons. This is also when haze can occur, which is worth checking rather than assuming.
