It runs five galleries — Gallery 1, the Earl Lu Gallery, the Brother Joseph McNally Gallery, Praxis Space and Project Space — and entry to all of them is free. The programme mixes touring shows by local and international artists with work by LASALLE staff, students and alumni, so what is on rotates with the college's own calendar rather than staying fixed. Because it is a working art school rather than a standalone museum, the galleries keep college hours: noon to 7pm, and they are closed on Sundays and public holidays.

It sits a short walk south of Little India, roughly ten minutes on foot from Tekka Centre. Rochor MRT (Downtown Line) is the nearest station, about a five-minute walk to McNally Street via Albert Street, and closer than Little India MRT despite the campus sitting on the edge of the Little India district.

★ WORTH KNOWING

The trap here is the closing day: unlike most Singapore galleries, which shut on Mondays, ICAS is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays, plus public holidays and LASALLE's own term-break closures — so a Sunday visit finds locked doors. The programme also tracks the academic year, and the largest, most finished shows are the graduation exhibitions that fill the galleries around May and June.

the thing that ruins more Singapore days than anything else

Rain, heat, and what to do about it

Live readings and forecasts from NEA. Four days is the limit — past that, nobody is forecasting, they are showing you an average.

Beyond four days · August on a 30-year average

Southwest Monsoon

June to September

Rain drier than average

Short, sharp early-morning showers and occasional squall lines. Drier overall than the northeast wet phase.

The other good window. Rain tends to arrive early and clear, leaving usable afternoons. This is also when haze can occur, which is worth checking rather than assuming.
