小印度（Little India）以實龍崗路（Serangoon Road）和竹腳中心市場（Tekka Centre）為核心，是新加坡各個文化街區裡視覺衝擊最強的一個——店面刷成濃烈的飽和色，花環攤現串茉莉和萬壽菊，維拉瑪卡里亞曼興都廟（Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple）雕花的塔門從屋頂間高高探出。
這裡在週末最熱鬧、最繽紛，住在附近、在附近工作的印度和孟加拉社群會聚到街上來，尤其是屠妖節（Deepavali）期間，實龍崗路上會連著好幾周架起燈拱。竹腳中心一樓的溼巴剎和樓上的小販攤子是貨真價實的本地覓食點，不是給遊客看的復刻版。從甘榜格南走過來只要幾分鐘。
小印度是新加坡少數幾個週日反而比平日更熱鬧、更有氛圍的街區，因為那天是勞工們休息的日子——想看真正的市井就那天來，但也要有心理準備，人行道上會擠得多。

The other good window. Rain tends to arrive early and clear, leaving usable afternoons. This is also when haze can occur, which is worth checking rather than assuming.
