Orchard Road is the roughly 2.2km shopping strip running from Tanglin to Dhoby Ghaut, lined with malls stacked one after another — ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City, Paragon and Wisma Atria among the largest — plus older department stores and a growing number of standalone flagship stores from international brands.
It's not a single ticketed attraction but an open street, so there's no admission or fixed hours; individual malls typically run 10am or 11am to 9pm or 10pm. During the Christmas season the entire street is strung with light displays that draw crowds well beyond regular shoppers, and it's worth walking even without buying anything.
The Botanic Gardens sits a short bus ride further up the same road.
The malls are connected by underground and sheltered walkways for most of the strip, so the entire length can be walked without stepping outside — useful in Singapore's afternoon rain, which arrives most days.
